About 2 years ago now my family and I were camping in the Lake District at Hawkshead. We spent each day driving around, setting off in a different direction each time. I had never driven these roads before and at times I found it quite a challenge, only because every now and again one of the four women in the car would scream out loud, "WOW look at that..." and of course expect me to look out the window at some mountain top that was disappearing into the clouds...

On one such outing we ended up going through Langdale, at which point I was trying to figure out where the road was going to go.. all I could see in front of me was mountains... enter Wrynose Pass .
When we got to the top of this pass we parked up, and my eldest daughter and I started to walk up Pike Of Blisco. We didn't get very far, but we got far enough to see the valley below and for my wife and my other daughters to have become very small dots.
The real point though is that I got the bug.
Standing there looking out over all that land, even though we were not on top, it bit me, it was like there was nothing else out there like it...
I knew I had to do more.
