Whiteside - Hopegill Head - Grassmoor - Wandope -
Whiteless Pike - Rannerdale Knotts

Off the side of Wandope, looking down onto Newlands Hause - it really was a long way down.

Looking the other way, Crag Hill and Sail behind Chris sat on Wandope's summit.

Looking down to Whiteless Pike

.. and closer..

From our decent to Whiteless this is Lad Hows, another way up to Grasmoors summit..
maybe next time??

Chris and a few other folk on Whiteless Pike's summit looking out over Crummock and towards Loweswater

The view Chris was getting.. awesome!

Me on Whiteless Pike looking back to Wandope... it had just started to rain a little here..
which was actually wonderful as it really cooled us down.
OK - A SHORT INTERLUDE
If you read the very first part of this walk you will know that I was over joyed to be walking with my friend Chris,
but some what saddened not to have my other good friend Pete with me. Well all day Chris and I had been getting text messages off the girls at really strange points, by which I mean on top of Hopegill Head - Grasmoor.. nothing.. but in the valley of Coledale Hause a text message. And so we started to decend towards my 214th Wainwright Fell, Rannerdale Knotts... and my phone goes off.. I have a voice mail?? It was Pete. Peter is a man of faith, strong faith, and I have to admit that listening to his voice was so freaky it made me cry... his message was.. "just landed home, looked at the clock and thought you must be approaching your last summit by now.. !!! Well done buddy, there with you in spirit if not in body" I was stood looking at Rannerdale Knotts listening to this.. awesome! |

Rannerdale Knotts! Fell Number 214 for me!

Having decended using the most direct route off Whiteless Pike we stopped at this point
for some running repairs. Chris joked with me that it looked a long way up
to Rannerdale's summit and we could head
back to the car from here if I wanted...
he he he he he yeh right!

From the summit of Rannerdale Knotts, looking towards Buttermere

Odette had written me a note that she had asked Chris to give to me when we reached the summit.
It's between me and my wife what was written, but I do thank her for all her support
over the past three years, Love you honey!

She insisted on this photo, love you for this to honey.. cough....

On the way down off Rannerdale Knotts my wonderful friend Chris decided he needed to tell EVERY SINGLE
person we met that I had just completed my 214th Wainwright fell..
and I mean every single person.. grrrr...
The couple above listen with great interest, the gents name was Brian,
I am sad to say I didn't get the
ladies name.
Brian told us a tale of a cave which as it turns out is not quite so secret as he made it out to be,
(I Googled it), but the story had us transfixed. Great to meet you both, do hope you leave a message
in the guest book.
Chris, thank you buddy for being with me on a day I will never ever forget.
