Today I wanted to get done some of the fells I had some how managed to miss out whilst bagging other hills. I will no doubt do these fells again using different routes, but today was all about getting them done, whilst enjoying our time out in the very fresh air. My youngest two stayed with mom, which meant for the first time ever I walked with just my eldest, Kimberley. |

Starting from Kirkstone pass car park we set off up to St. Raven's edge.

Path repairs going on all the way up this section.. our car second on the right..

With the roof box.. he he

Up onto Pike How and already some great views.

Our final slog up to Stoney Coves summit

Looking across to Red Screes

Back down to Windermere with Pets quarry on the far right

This did seem to go on and on and on..

Finally the flat summit and the views... this is Troutbeck, The Tongue is just a little to the left of center.

The three peeks of Froswick closest right, Ill Bell, and Yoke in the distance

Stoney Cove Pike's summit with Thornthwaite Beacon right behind it

The weather had been ominous all morning, always threatening to lash it down at any second,
but mercifully never doing so.

Click on the picture here and below for a larger view.
All morning we had spoken of days where had walked and there not be a cloud in the sky,
but where you could hardly get any long distance views at all, the mountains on the horizon are Scafell,
with Great Gable popping up on the right

Looking across Gray Crag, then the Straits of Riggindale in the distance to the right is Kidsty Pike
and to the left of that Rampsgill Head. Click the pic for a large one.

Looking down to Hartsop Dodd and Ullswater, with Angeltarn Pikes and Place fell to the right.

One without my daughter in the way

Across to Hartsop Above How (one of the strangest names for a hill anywhere in the lakes IMO)

Caudale Head

Looking across again to Dove crag, Hart Crag, High Harsop Dodd, Hartsop Above How, St. Sunday Crag and Fairfield..
All you have to do is work out which one is which.. lol...

Approaching Hartsop Dodd summit, you can just see the post top right marking it..
the pile of stone does help though

The Eastern fells behind Kimi, the most pointed one right of her head is Catsty Cam,
click for a large version.

The full view back to Stoney Cove Pike (Caudale Moor)

Only four more Far Eastern fells to go now for me.. very happy

Brothers water. Its not till you get to this point that you get an idea of just how high up you still are.

The climb from Hartsop to here is very, very hard, but the view is amazing

Where the road bends round and seems to disappear into the trees is Cow Bridge car park,
that's where Odette was parked waiting for us.. still a long steep decent left for us.

Hartsop far, far below, with two dogs that were not that happy about not
being able to see the path back.

Once down a view back up Hartsop Dodd... and in the field opposite..
on the way to cow bridge..
what do you find??
