214 Wainwright Fells
Don't get me wrong, to stand on the top of Enlgand is awsome, totally awsome, but the climb from Wasdale is long and boring at times, and from Seathwaite tricky, there are some rather large stones you have to avoid along the way. Once there the views are great, but for over the edge, wow factor views, I do not think it holds first place, not for me.
However, how about a short walk from Scafell Pike to Scafell.. just a matter of half a mile or so as the crow flies ... he he.. Well first you have the screes of Mickledore to contend with, and then you either go up The Lords Rake, or you start the climb to Foxes Tarn. I do not believe this is a walk for small children, it's very wet, very slipery and in places a very long way down, and remember you have already climbed the highest mountain in Enlgand.
I could go on all day about the other fells but one I must mention. From Seathwaite take the right fork at Stockley Bridge and head up and alongside Seathwaithe fell - keep going towards Styhead Tarn and there in front of you will be Great End! Totally breath taking, I could sit and look at this place for hours.
