The Northern Fells

Well what can I say... Home to what I consider to be the most viewed fell in all the lakes, although I dare say many people have no idea what it's actually called - Skiddaw! This was my first 3000ft fell, along with my daughter Kerenza. Recently went back here as we had missed out it's smaller brother, 'Little man'. Not everyone will agree, but view Skiddaw at any time other than summer and there is a good chance it will have snow on it. I can not talk enough about this place and I will cherrish my walks there always.
Along the road however (A66), there is one of the most unforgiving fells any where in the lakes. To many it is a favourite, but to me it is a place where all the warnings about taking kids onto the fells come into fruition - Blencathra. Attemp this fell from the visitors centre and get caught in a rain/hail storm and there are no walls, no cairns, nothing to protect you from the eliments - However.. attempt it in good weather.. and well maybe I can see peoples point.. check out our July 06 walk. My latest walk June 07, NINE of these summits in one go.. wonderful walk.
