The North Western Fells
This is again a group of fells that has so many breath taking views, and ascents that it is hard to know where to start. Two fells are amongst the most visited, Causey Pike and Catbells.
Both can been seen from Keswick over looking Derwent water, both are fairly easy to climb and from their summits you can see for miles. They can both be the start of wonderful Horseshoe walks, in which you take in some of the best views any where. Climb to High Spy from Catbells and then from the summit cairn drop down a little to the east, only a few feet.. just don't look down.. not for the faint hearted.
A mention also that Castle Crag and most of the Winlatter Fells are in the right conditions, very good 'starter fells' especially the Winlatter ones, with the visitors centre there to help.
When I walked the Hindscarth trio sadly it was rather cloudy so the views were a little limited, but a great walk that I shall do again one day soon.
This region was the area I ended my quest to walk all 214 A.W. Fells, Whiteside - Grassmoor and down to Rannerdale. The pic to the left is my very good friend Chris sat on top of Wandope.
