214 Wainwright Fells

Nab Scar to Fairfield

12th April 2009

Nab Scar - Heron Pike - Great Rigg - Fairfield

Last May I completed all 214 Wainwright fells and for more than one reason I haven't been back to the Lake Disctict since.

When I was asked what I would do now I had done them all, I always said that I would go back to do the ones where the first time around I had not enjoyed the walk because of bad weather.
I had been on Fairfield back in January of 2006, a walk notable only because it was the only time I have ever walked with David Hall.

Todays Weather forcast was an almost cloud free day.. mmmm heard that one before...

Don't forget to hit F11 to give you full screen view.

You don't have to climb very hugh before you get your first view of lake Windermere.

..and not long after that you get an amazing view of Rydal Water
with Loughrigg Fell behind.

Heading up to Nab Scar

Grasmere Water with Sliver How behind.

A little further around and a view of the Coniston Fells

and now a close up

Jay posing on a rather large rock looking back to Ambleside

Nab Scar's summit, something we missed out the first time because we couldn't even see it.

He sulked cause I took a pic of the summit without him in it..

First view of where we wanted to get to.. to the right the flat summit of Fairfield.

Heron Pike's Summit

From Erne Crag the view to Great Rigg and Fairfield was perfect.

Now if anyone can find water, Jay can.. and it don't much matter how dirty it is.

Cause on a day like today it's delicious.. well to dogs anyways...

The view over High Raise to Glarama and everntually Great Gable.. ohh plus a few others..

Looking back to Heron Pike from Great Rigg's Summit

Onwards to Farfield and it was starting to get very busy!
