Bowness car park - Great Borne - Brown How - Starling Dodd - Red Pike - Ennerdale water - Bowness car park
24th October 2007

PAGE TWO

The climb up to Starling Dodd wasn't at all hard, even though this makes it look worse than it was.
I did end up putting back on two layers of clothing that I had taken off during my accent of Great Borne.
Once out of the sun I found the ground to be frozen rock hard and the temp was markedly different.

Looking back to Great Borne from the same spot.

Again those hills.. Rannerdale Knotts, which will hopefully be my 214 AW in center picture.

Looking over to Mellbreak on the right, and Hen Combe on the left.

From Starling Dodd's summit looking towards Red Pike and High Stile in the distance.

Although a bit on the rocky side, if I ever get the lightweight kit to back pack.. this is going to be a wild camp for sure.
Looking to Crag Fell which will probably be my next walk.

Great Borne from Starling Dodd

Mellbreak from the same place

From near the summit of Red Pike the view of the last walk I will make. Forground Rannerdale Knotts,
behind that Whiteless Pike and so on.
To the far right (center pic) is High Snockrigg, which drops down and then rises again to Knott Rigg and Ard Crags,
the Newlands pass is in between

A close up of Whiteless Pike and Wandope, the ridge to the right is Crag Hill, Sail and Scar Crags.

A close up of where the party will be.. only kidding.. the top of Rannerdale Knotts

Crummock water

Mellbreak to the right, the Mosedale valley to the left of that and Hen Combe. Center picture in the distance
is Loweswater, and to the right of that is Burnbank Fell, Blake fell and Gavel Fell. This is the one walk
I am dreading and I have put off for two years. The area between Gavel Fell and Hen Combe is VERY wet,
just need a few weeks frost me thinks.
