On May 4th 2007

All three of my children and I climbed

Grange Fell
Including Kings How and Brund Fell

Walking 4.62km and ascending 400m

The weather today was very, very hot with hardly a cloud in the sky.

This is the end of Bleacrag Moss

Looking back to Troutdale Cottage

Almost at the top of Kings How, this is a real beauty spot and it gives you a real idea
why the royalty loved this place so much.

Derwent water with the whole Skiddaw range beyond,
surely one of the best scenes anywhere in the lakes

The little hamlet of Grange

The plaque gives info on the fell.

Sorry that kerenza is in the way of some of it..

The summit of Kings How

Behind me is Maiden Moor, and Cat Bells to the right

Castle Crag

Looking to Rosthwaite

OK ready for a rant?? Grange Fell has two summits, Kings How and Brund Fell, but it's only classed as one AW fell.
Now that's fair enough but look at the distance from KH to BF, and this picture doesn't tell you how much you drop down.
So what you say, well the next day we did a Glaramara circuit, where we had a brilliant view of Eagle Crag and Sergeants Crag.
Tell me what the difference is, cause these are two tops?

In the background to the right High Seat and the Bleaberry Fell

Coming off Kings How.

My wifes little dog had run out of steam and was being carried by Kimi

I decided to have a climb up here which actually looks a lot harder than it is.
Taken from the summit or Grange Fell (Brund Fell)

Still very pleased and what a picture!

Kimi with my rock climbing behing her

Castle Crag with High Spy behind

Grange Fell Summit with Great Crag behind

This was the completion of the Central Fells for me.. not a time for drinking though

We took the route off heading towards Rosthwaite

Very steep in places.. but a nice walk back.

Please do email us if you have any comments. Chris
