On May 5th 2007 Kerenza and I walked/climbed

Seathwaite, Borrowdale - Stockley Bridge - Styhead Tarn - Sprinkling Tarn - Seathwaite Fell -
Lower Esk Hause - Allen Crags - Glaramara - Rosthwaite Fell - Dovenest Crag top -
Tarn at Leaves - Rottenstone Gill - Stonethwaite School - Rosthwaite

a total of 15.5km with 968m of ascent.

A note here.. in two days my nine yr old had walked 13.8 miles and climbed 5472 ft,
pretty darn good for a kid don't ya think?

Taylorgill Forte (waterfall) is what the map says.. I have a view of this later looking down on it.

Stockley Bridge, and already lots of folks about..

One of the many, many rock pools along the way

It really had changed weather wise from the day before. Today was cold and damp,
and very windy at times. It was also very cloudy so we got all the way up to Styhead
tarn before I took another picture.

I do get why this place is so popular with the wild campers..

My favourite view in the lakes.. shrouded in mist - Great End

From there up to Sprinkling Tarn

The view back down to Styhead

At some point, when I have my GPS back, and it is clear weather I will come back here.
We got onto 3 different 'tops' of Seathwaite Fell, and although this wasn't the highest one,
it's the only one where we got a decent pic.

Onto Esk Hause shelter.. this really was a slog.

The view, or lack of down to Angle Tarn and Rossett Pike
which I had hoped to do.

No chance today, already shattered..

Up to Allen Crags and no views at all..

Seconds later it cleared and finally there we was my mountain.. Great End..
I don't know what it is about this place.. I just love it..

The picture already mentioned.. the path up from Stockley Bridge that we had taken many hours ago now

Looking back towards Seathwaite

Over Seathwaite Fells southern top, with Green and Great Gable behind

The climb to Glaramara. I have to say that I had looked on the map, and seen that this ridge
did have a number of summits along the way. I had no idea how hard it would be though,
and just when you think you have made it... you figure .. no I haven't..
it's not this one.. it's the next one..

One of the tops..

Hey up.. it's them Langdales again..
(I seem to be walking a lot of places where you get a great view of them)

Glaramara's Summit, we think.. are sure of.. sort of.. no it is...

And again, Glaramara's summit wth Honister crag (Fleetwith Pike) to the left of Kez.

Ok, going to blame this one of sheer tiredness, because we should have doubled back on our selves
a little and gone down to the left of these rocks as we look at them from here. As it was, we
climbed down them.. not something we enjoyed at all.. and Jay positivley hated it.

Combe Head

Another steep drop on the way down to Rosthwaite Fell

Not sure totally where this is.. it may be close to Dovenest Crag.. it may not

Behind Kerenza is Eagle Crag

Rosthwaite cam

Looking back to where we had come from

Eagle Crag and Sergeant's Crag. If you have a read of our walk to Grange Fell you will see how I quote
these 'two' fells as an example of A.W.'s weirdness as to what is a top, and what isn't.

Tarn at Leaves, with Bessyboot behind it

Rosthwaite Cam, Kerenza is in the dip getting out of the cold wind.

Tarn of Leaves

Bessyboot, we missed this out today as we were both totally shattered.

Our decent route off Rosthwaite Fell

Looking over to Rosthwaite, Grange fell comes from the right, with Castle Crag to the left.
