Birkhouse Moor - Striding Edge - Helvellyn - Swirral Edge - Catstye Cam
5th October 2007

My very good friend Peter and I had decided to walk together again and with my quest to do the 214 getting ever closer to completion I thought it an excellent oportunity to do the top of a fell that I missed out last time I climbed Striding Edge and Helvellyn, namely - Birkhouse Moor.
So far I have stood on Helvellyn's summit 3 times, and every time I have had the same views as we did today. The weird thing is though, Fairfield is only just over the ridge from Helvellyn, you will see pics below of how close it is. I have walked this close to Fairfield at least 6 times now, and always had this kind of view, however... every time I try and actually walk up it.. plan to do it on a route, cloud everywhere.. can't see a thing.. weird...

I am going to post the photo's for my family and Peter to see, I'll add descriptions later in the week... enjoy!
Ohh there are likely to be at least 3 pages.. mega amount of pictures...

NOT where we are walking to - this is left to right, Dollywaggon Pike, High Crag, Nethermost Pike -
still an amazing ridge!

The famous Striding Edge on the left leading up to Helvellyn.
If you follow the ridge up to the skyline you can see a blip on the top of the hill.
That blip is the stone monument you will see later.
