Family day out in Ambleside

8th April 2007 - Loughrigg Fell

After having already done Low and High Pike this smallish fell really was hard work for my two youngest kids,
my eldest didn't even bother... youth of today.... Hat's off to Charlie though as it was only as we got
half way up the Terrace that she told me she had a blister on the back of her right foot.
I big plaster, a bit of TLC, and we pushed on.

After driving around for a while we finally found a parking spot next to Rydal Church.

Over the road and across the River Rothey

Across Rydal Water to Nab Scar

Again across the water to Low and High Pike.. were we really up there 3 hours ago.. madness..

This is what the girls had come to see.. the amazing caves.

Further along the path another one. This one is blocked off as parts of the roof are falling down.

Silver How to the right, Langdale Pikes in the distance

Across Grasmere with Helm Crag almost center, Steel Fell behind it,and Sear Sandal to the right

This is when the day started to catch up with us.. still what seemed like a long way to go.

Finally on top of a packed Loughrigg Fell Summit.. well done you two.

Langdale Pikes now clearly visable.. great pic..

Over Ambleside to Wansfell Pike.. next on my list of 'small ones'

Same as before but more of Seat Sandal on the right.

finally....

My baby..

really needed a rest...

But what a pic...

Fabulous view of our first two summits, Low Pike - High Pike.
